Understanding the Bible

I just finished reading through the book of Revelation.  There's a lot there that I don't get, but each time I read it, I find that I "get" a little bit more than I did the last time I read it.  That's the really amazing thing about reading the Bible.  There's always more to get.

I'm not going to write a long post today, but I just wanted to share that thought.  Maybe you're reading through the Bible and you don't get it.  Maybe you feel like giving up.  What's the point if you can't figure it out???  Maybe you're thinking of trying to find an easier-to-understand translation, because it just doesn't make sense!

Don't give up!  And as a side note... *there're a lot of translations out there, but I'm a KJV girl, and that's the translation I believe God would have every person read... archaic words and all!  You can always google the words you don't know :).

God never promises that we will understand everything He's said to us the first time we read it.  One thing that I've found is that life experience opens up more understanding of the Bible.  Or maybe it's that life experience provides more opportunities to apply what I've already read.  Either way, that's just one thing that can help you understand the Bible better.  Oh yeah, and then there's google :).

The Bible will change you.  It will change your mind, heart, and attitudes.  It doesn't matter if you understand all of it.  One verse can change you.  Think about John 3:16, probably the most famous verse of Scripture.  That single verse has changed countless lives!  And it's just ONE verse!  The change comes by reading.  The more you read the more you will understand.

So... keep reading!  And don't worry about not understanding... it will come :).
